They're no longer the best value, a civic with 300k miles is worse than a ford with 170k but they now sell for the same price in many cases. I bought my first 91 toyota mr2 for either $1800 or $2100, with 210k miles. It was bone stock and ran great. My second one had 270k and still ran perfect.
