A friend just picked up a commander with serial CJ57797 and the seller told him it was from the early 2000s., Two observations. Colt serial number lookup dates it to 1968. The box displayed with it has a Shrouded sticker on it but it obviously doesn't have a hammer shroud nor does it appear to be drilled for one so the box is more than likely not original to the gun. The date lookup on Colt's website leaves a lot to be desired.I have found it effective about 50% of the time.It seems to work better with the older guns.I don't know if it's intentional or just hasn't been updated in a while.:bang_wall *.
