Shiloh sharps forums. The description said "Shiloh Sharps Rifle 45-120 34" barrel beautiful condition". The rifle showed up a couple of days ago and here is what I found: The left side of the receiver says "Sharps Rifle Co. Pat. April 6 1869. The top flat of the barrel has the "Old Reliable" logo and is stamped "Sharps Rifle Co. Bridgeport, Conn."

Which caliber would be best for accuracy rather than power? I would prefer the 45 but I know the 54 has multiple options for bullets and molds and is the only caliber for the carbines, so being more common is a plus.The Sharps 1863 carbine should be equipped with a sling bar and ring. The back end of the bar is held by an extension of the rear lock screw washer and the front is held in a hole drilled in the frame and secured by a screw hidden under the lock plate. I bought it from a reenactor at the 135th Gettysburg.My .50-70 Sharps has a 30" 1 in 26 barrel. I've shot bullets from 300 grains to a bit over 6oo grains and all shot at least reasonably well with some shooting exceptionally well. Bullets much over 550 grains start to get a bit pushy in a hunting weight rifle.
