The dealer was better than I expected. They heard the noise and immediately knew it wsa the VVT 1 bank (SHOULD have been a recall). I got a 50% courtesy discount, for a $2400 repair. $1200 out of pocket and even though I wrote Toyota USA and my state's Attorney General trying to get the rest (or part of the $1200, Toyota USA would not cover more.
